What are the rules of singles Pickleball?
Singles pickleball is played with two players on the court, each on their own side of the net. The rules for singles play are similar to doubles play, with a few exceptions:
- Service: In singles play, the serve is made from the right service court, and the server must serve to the diagonally opposite service court. The serve must be made underhand and hit with an open hand.
- Volleying: In singles play, players are allowed to volley the ball on their own side of the net, as well as on their opponents’ side. There is no “no volleying zone,” or “kitchen,” in singles play.
- Scoring: A game is won by the first player to reach 11 points, with a minimum lead of two points. The serve changes after every point scored.
- Court positioning: In singles play, players are allowed to move anywhere on the court, including into the no volleying zone on their opponents’ side of the net.
